The tree spoke to the single cloud passing high overhead.
“Come down, make rain for us all,” he said in a voice as aged as the night.
The cloud passed quietly between the tree and the moon. She, destined to make rains fall upon another tree on another mountain, had heard his voice as if in a dream. When she looked down she could not see him moving gently in the breeze, for her own shadow had hidden him from her sight.
Thoughtful post. Is it perhaps teaching us that we cannot demand things from nature? We need to ask with humility?
@hinduspace
We are nature, but to demand from anyone or anything is a useless act.
Wow! I get such a strong visual from these few lines!! And it is so peaceful and serene despite the core misalignment between the two characters. I am moved and impressed!
Ahh, thank you so much Allison. High praise from you, to be sure!
